Heavy Interdictors: Phobos

As luck would have it, Wildly Inappropriate. is disbanding just when I finish up Graviton Physics IV in order to be able to fit the Warp Disruption Field Generator I.

I need to polish my Advanced Weapon Upgrades skill to V in order to be able to fit some more guns (2% reduction of powergrid needs of weapon turrets and launchers per level).

Bonuses

Gallente Cruiser Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to medium hybrid turret damage and 5% bonus to armor resistances per level

Heavy Interdictors Skill Bonus: 10% bonus to medium hybrid turret falloff per level and 5% bonus to range of warp disruption fields per level

glassdoor.com’s CCP Company Review

After college I wanted to live in a big city; I packed up, moved to Chicago, and started waiting tables in restaurants to help pay my rent. The University that I attended required that we graduate with some work experience and while out at a bar, a bartender friend introduced me to a manager at an IT Consulting company. I went on to have an interview, and then I started an entry-level help desk job.

I finished the program at the University while working full-time and eventually starting doing Level 1 support, then onsite support, and the helping out a team of IT technicians.

The company that I worked for was very much a start-up: brutal hours, strange and exhausting client requests, and a lot of similarities to the descriptions that I found for glassdoor.com’s review of CCP.

Pros

“onsite kitchen”
“laid back company”
“quite focused on the fun aspect of work”
“extremely smart and talented people”
“flexible environment”
“it is a wonderful place to be. But it is not a place to work for long”
“allows its employees to take independent initiative on many projects”
“camaraderie and sense of family is truly amazing”

Cons

“at times required, to do night and weekend hours in addition to normal working hours, without any compensation or time off guaranteed”
“often management is unwilling to participate in a thorough communications
Communication and knowledge sharing is a disaster”
“no documentation for older areas of development”
“struggles severely with internal and external communications
“sticking a few php for dummies books in the games room really just is not corporate training”

The repeated comments about documentation and communication stand out as huge red flag for me. We had around 20 clients, 100-150 active issues at any given time, and projects rolling out constantly.

The majority of our communication was reactive and not proactive. When an email server was going to be rebuilt, sometimes clients would not know the extend of the downtime, service migration steps, or even final cost. The lack of clear communication before hand ended up hindering our client’s trust in the end.

Post Incarna, with a community that is flaring up with criticism and doubt, I hope that we see some solid, direct, and transparent information out of the company.

A Jump Freighter is Not a Toy

If you have ever read some of the shenanigans that myself and hav have gotten ourselves into while in WH space, you know that we are an entertaining bunch:

It seemed like a really good idea at the time

Today I moved a JF through a constellation that has an active Incursion going on. While an Incursion is active, rats at gates are more agressive and stronger than regular nullsec rats. Additionally with the Incursion that we have, you cannot use cynos. This meant that the very shiny, expensive ship had to go through the gate.

There was a miscommunication between myself and my scout James in the destination system. He thought that I was starting in the destination system. This meant that warping to 0 on the gate would get me past the Sansha rats.

I was in fact starting in another system and coming into the destination system that James was watching for me. He was watching three rats some 30k off of the gate and when I decloaked after the gateflash 15k away from the gate, James was quite confused.

Thankfully they were not scramming rats and instead made my Jump Freighter warp faster to the station because I was triple webbed.

Technetium Roller Coaster

According to Akita T’s threadnaught Dominion market analysis : sky’s the limit on technetium (long term), Technetium is the current bottleneck in the T2 production process.

I have been debating, reading, and watching the performance for a few months now and I bought in at 118.02k.

This weekend was a little tense as there was a lot of speculation about CCP adjusting the ratios for T2 production for the Incarna — er semi-Incarna one Captain’s Quarters release.

Additionally there has been a lot of chatter as it was dropping to 100k-ish in Jita this weekend. I contribute this drop to some former NC alliances cashing out and new alliances that are now Technetium rich also selling in Jita to get quick liquid ISK.

I could have bought in at a much lower price, but I am not that comfortable with speculating on moongoo prices.

Overall I’m happy with a +83 M profit and I have 580 units left to sell.

Experimenting with T2 Production

I’ve decided to try my hands at Tech 2 production. I trained up three alts with Laboratory Operation V, Advanced Laboratory Operation IV, Science V,  ‘Beancounter’ Implants,  Mass Production V, Advanced Mass Production IV, and numerous Science skills in order to start on this endeavor.

Tech 2 production is much more complicated that Tech 1. With Tech 1, you can produce your item with minerals. Tech 2 involves moongoo, PI items, Morphite,  and an invented Tech 2 Blueprint Copy. Yes, yes, there are Tech 2 Blueprint Originals – we’re not getting into that conversation.

I plan on purchasing the Advanced Materials and producing Tech 2 Components. After some shopping in Jita, I ended up with a nice stock to start my production line.

I purchased a lot of BPOs for ships, drones, and general popular ship modules. After some reading, I decided to setup a Large POS with around 9 Labs. I have a mixture of Mobile Laboratories (1 Copy, 3 ME, 3 PE, 5 Invention) and Advanced Mobile Laboratories (3 Copy, 2 ME, 2 Invention).

I wanted to be able to keep track of how each item was performing because Invention success is random. I discovered that the API item “completedStatus” gives a 0 for a Invention failure and a 1 for a successful T2 BPC.

After creating some logic for the job result, I now have a nice section in my wallet manager program to track Invention jobs.

Next up is to create a page in my wallet manager that can report on the profitability of Tech 2 items as these values fluctuate with the prices of moon products.

Wish me luck. I would love to hear any tips from fellow Industrialists.
